Why We Deadlift Every Week at Little City Fitness

This foundational movement isn’t just about pulling heavy weights off the ground; it’s about building a strong, resilient body that moves well, feels great, and performs better in everyday life.

The deadlift is one of the most functional exercises you can do. Think about it—how often do you bend down to pick something up? Whether it’s groceries, a laundry basket, your kid, or a heavy box, the movement pattern of the deadlift shows up in your daily routine. Training this pattern with proper form and progressive loading strengthens your posterior chain (glutes, hamstrings, back), reinforces good posture, and protects you from injuries both in and out of the gym.

We include deadlifts weekly because they’re a cornerstone of functional strength. They help develop total-body power, improve core stability, and build the kind of confidence that comes from knowing your body can handle life’s physical demands.
